Ildiko Komlosi - ILDIKO KOMLOSI

Hungarian mezzosoprano Ildiko Komlosi studied music at the Franz Liszt Academy of Budapest and took part in the specialising courses of the Teatro alla Scala and Guildhall School of Music in London. She was the absolute winner of the Pavarotti International Competition in 1986 and debuted in Verdi's Messa da Requiem opposite Luciano Pavarotti and under the baton of Lorin Maazel.

 She has subsequently started a successful career on the world's great stages: after her debut at the Frankfurt Staatsoper and at the Wiener Staatsoper, and in 1990 she sang in her first Teatro alla Scala production. During the following years she conquered north and South-America and the Far East. She is invited frequently to the greatest theatres of the world, Metropolitan Opera of New York, Covent Garden in London, Teatro La Scala in Milan, DeutscheOper Berlin, Munich, Tokyo, SempreOper in Dresden and other Italian theatres.

Among her last successes: a Zeffirelli production of Aida, opening title of the La Scala Season in 2006, an other great Aida in Covent Garden, directed by Robert Wilson and conducted by Antonio Pappano. In the last 5 years she has been invited every year to sing in the Arena di Verona in several roles Carmen, Amneris, Santuzza, Laura. In 2006 she has been awared together with Jose Cura with the Arena Award. In 2009 she sang Santuzza with great success in the Metropolitan. She continues to sing around the World, you can see her performing at any bigger festivals, and greater theatres, such as The Hungarian State Operahouse, Verbier Festival in 2016 at the Arena di Verona, and at the PROMS in London, or with the Boston Sypmhonic Orchestra in their hometown. Next project will be in Paris at Opera, with the new composition by Luca Francesconi, Tromp la Mort
